Gifted, that is the word that best describes those who remember. “Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy.” Exodus 20:8; Deuteronomy 5:15 It is time set apart to draw close to God with few interruptions. A time to speak, a time to listen, a time that has been blessed by God. This is the gift of the Sabbath. Try to imagine dedicating a full day to being conscious of God’s presence. Only He knows what gift you will carry away. Perhaps you will feel His healing touch as He gives His thoughts to you? Or maybe humble laughter seeing yourself through His eyes. You might be reminded of a single verse that now speaks strongly to you, like the voice of a father to his child.
Let the poor say, “I am rich.” How amazing to be gifted this way. It is God Almighty who calls us into His presence to reveal and supply our need. Let the rich say, “I am poor.” But most will not because there is a price to pay. Man’s traditions, worldly pursuits and temporary gain are the cost. For this reason most will argue rather than believe the truth. Because they have their opinions at stake, it is you they will dispute. How terrible to refuse a gift from God.
Now some would say the Sabbath is now Sunday, the Lord’s day, the day of His resurrection. Because of that, the day God entered His rest, the seventh day, is now forgotten. Do you think Jesus intended for that to happen? Furthermore I have never heard anyone argue over nine of ten commandments. Most agree that the God’s laws are good, some care less and break them. Only the fourth commandment is disputed. Who would challenge what God has called holy? Who?
There was a time for tiptoeing, afraid for no good reason. Eventually I was shown the problem. One that cannot be avoided. Men refuse to hear the truth. There is nothing I can do about that, but I believe these words may challenge others to remember the Father’s Sabbath. See for yourselves if what I wrote is true. Gifted you will be.
I am taking a Sabbath from writing. Time to concentrate on technical issues in developing a site that is recognized by the spider that crawls the web. Who says you can’t teach old dogs new tricks? Until I am back to posting I leave you with another reminder to expect adversity when honoring Jesus.
“If the world hates you, know that it hated Me before it hated you.” John 15:18 I get it that there are many who refuse to hear the truth that declares they are already condemned because of their sin. John 3:18-21 I know that repeating Christ’s words, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6-7 is not politically correct and will be rejected. Therefore, know that scorn, ridicule and hatred are to be expected. So, toughen up and know that you are loved.
