Choosing The Right Wedding Garment.
Dress according to the occasion. That is especially important if you’re climbing to a mountain ledge, or a sandy beach. We do our best to look our nicest when invited to a wedding. Well guess what! We need to be thinking about what to wear, we have all been invited to a royal wedding.
Haven’t you heard? I know we are the last to be invited, others refused to come. Their loss is our gain. They were not worthy, so the invitation was given to us. We have been invited to the wedding feast God has prepared for His Son. What to wear?
Appropriate Apparel Required.
Yes, I said required. We may all have an invitation, but that doesn’t mean we have the right to disregard the need for a wedding garment. The way the story goes it is possible to walk in the door wearing just your clothes, those garments God calls “filthy rags.” (Isaiah 64:6) But the ones who do will be forcible removed.
Many are called, but few are chosen, and it all depends on what you’re wearing. The Book of Revelation, chapter 7, describes the garment of the saints. They are “white robes.” Robes that have been “made white in the blood of the Lamb.” (Revelation 7: 9; 14)
“Many are called” to be forgiven and cleansed.
“Many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14) God cannot be blamed when those who reject Him find themselves removed from His presence. The chosen are those who confess and repent of their sins. It is they who have washed their clothes in the blood of the Lamb.
“But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. (2 Peter 3:8-9)
