Jerusalem 2017: Desire of the heart.

Jerusalem, The Place of God’s Choosing.

Did you ever have a dream that lingered through the years, a wish that you hoped would someday come true? The desire of your heart? “Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed. Delight yourself also in the Lord: and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.” (Psalm 37:3-5) My desire was to go to Jerusalem.

Vicki planed the essentials; it’s nice to know when and where you’re supposed to be. Together we discovered that God had prepared our way.  He chose our guide, Khalid, a stranger who became our friend. We were led through valleys, to the tops of roofs and mountains, saw ancient ruins and worshiped at the western wall. Each day was filled with thoughts of Jesus as we visited places significant to His life, death and resurrection. I shared this dream with Vicki.

Holding Hands in Jerusalem.

Middle-Eastern culture rarely demonstrates public affection, but we held hands as we walked together through the four quarters of the old city (Christian, Jewish, Palestinian and Arminian) . Only twice were we strictly separated by law or custom, first at the Western Wall, then at the Tomb of King David. How wonderful it was sharing this amazing adventure with my bride.

I am so thankful to God who has restored my life, fulfilled my desire and gifted me with Vicki, a woman after God’s own heart. I am sure He planed the “number one” that appears to rest on her shoulder. Life is not by chance, it is by God’s design.
