Mount of Olives for burial? Where will not help.

Kidron Valley and the Mount of Olives will look a lot different.

The base of the Mount of Olives shows in the upper left hand corner as it rises above the Kidron Valley. The Mount’s foot hill boasts of the oldest graves and most expensive grave sites in all of Israel. That is where it is thought the Messiah will touch ground when He comes to earth. The Mount will split (being buried there won’t determine your future) forming a great valley and a way for Jews to escape from the wrath of the nations.

“Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east, And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from the east to the west, making a very large valley; halve of the mountain shall move toward the north and halve to the south. Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, for the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah.

Thus the Lord my God will come, and all the saints with you.” (Zechariah 14:3-5)

The apostle John saw “A Great Escape” revealed in Devine symbols. It is a picture of Satan’s wrath when he “had been cast to the earth.” He persecutes “the woman (Israel) who gave birth to the male Child” (Jesus). Israel miraculously escapes and is nourished for three and a half years. Satan tries his best to go after the woman, but the earth opens its mouth and prevents him from doing her harm. Enraged with Israel he goes “to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” (Revelation 12:13-17)

The Mount of Olives will split and the Kidron Valley will change.

Now if this confuses your understanding of end time prophecies, Good. If I read these two prophetic descriptions correctly and both discribe the same event, Israel is spared three and a half years of tribulation, the church will experience the worst of it and the Kidron Valley will look a lot different.

To study the prophets is humbling. There is so much to learn. To teach prophecy as a “cut and dried” doctrine has led to divisions in Christ’s church. And to claim that the church is spiritual Israel who has replaced God’s chosen people is to confuse our understanding of the prophets. We would have to tear the prophets out of the Scriptures as God’s words to them were no longer true.

We have been given the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. Trust Him as you hear the prophets tell of things to come. Just don’t be so sure He has given you all the answers. We cease being teachable when that happens. Notice I used the word “IF?” But of this I am sure…..

“For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
