Building the Temple of God. pg.18

Before we finish Moses’ prophecy…..

Naphtali and Asher remain and an amazing prophecy concerning Israel, but first let us understand a prophecy that concerns the saints, those called by God. It is the prophecy of the new covenant. One day it will be fulfilled with Israel, today it is for the rest of the nations. Remember God telling Abraham that “through your seed all the nations of the earth will be blessed?” (Genesis 26:4)  Jesus is the descendant of Abraham through the line of Judah. It was His blood that was poured out sealing God’s new covenant with man. Centuries before Christ’s sacrifice Jeremiah explained the reason for, and the simplicity of the new covenant.

“The days are coming,” declares the LORD, ‘when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,’ declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 31: 31-32)

In simple terms the old covenant stated, “Obey My commandments and I will be your God.” Israel broke that covenant. A new one was promised.

“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time, ‘declares the LORD. I will put MY laws in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest,’ declares the LORD. ‘For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sin no more.” (Jeremiah 31:33-34)

The new covenant is God doing the doing so that He might have a people for Himself. We now obey because He is changing our mind and our heart. “And you were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation.  When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of His glory.” (Ephesians 1:12-14)

There is much error voiced by those who have not discovered this truth. They are still laboring in vain to earn their salvation. These voices would have you agree with their lack of belief in God’s work. They would rob your joy and burden you with fear. Believe God instead.  Abraham did. That is what pleased our Father. You’re the temple, God is the Builder.

Back to Moses, Naphtali and Asher tomorrow.
