A shepherd brother was given the heart and the boldness of an evangelist. His message is simple. “Reality!” He saw things as they are. Scriptures and time spent tending sheep cleared his vision. He was real with everyone he met, and he brought reality with him. He truly cared for the souls of others as he shared the gospel.
Seems to me that’s the right thing to do if your eyes are open. Problem is many have been lulled to sleep safely covered in comfort while others are distracted by the allure and consequences of sin. And then there’s the rest of us. What we want is to be awake and useful in God’s kingdom. But more than that we desire fellowship with Jesus as He builds His church.
There are nations in this world where God is pouring out His Spirit. He did say, “all nations.” The West has had its turn. For those of us who cannot physically be in the midst of God’s harvest we can share in it through the lives of God’s saints on the battlefields. The internet has made it possible to befriend a brother or sister in Christ by helping in their ministry or spiritual growth .
The harvest is great! There are many new believers living in places of persecution. Knowing one of them will soften your heart. You will desire to pray for their faith to grow strong and find yours will as well. Be with them in spirit as you encourage them. Discover that you will be encouraged by God through their life. What most of us spend without thinking buys a Bible your friend can give to another. There is so much you can personally do as Jesus builds His church.
“At the sight of the crowds, His heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for His harvest.” (Matthew 9:36-38)
So, I’m praying that our Father calls you to find someone to labor with. It will bring glory to our Father, and to you joy as you participate in God’s harvest.
