Wicked deception.
We see the reality of deception in the lives of those who follow strange ways. Wonder how people can believe what they believe? The answer…Humans have no power over evil when truth is rejected. God sends them a powerful delusion so that they believe a lie.
“The coming of the lawless one is apparent in the working of Satan, who uses all power, signs, lying wonders, and every kind of wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth that would have saved them. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion leading them to believe what is false, so that all who have not believed the truth but took to pleasure in unrighteousness will be condemned.” (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12)
The prophet Micaiah explained how this spiritual deception happens. Ahab was a king over the house of Israel who was about to be judged. God had planed Ahab’s demise and through Micaiah told him how God’s plan would come about. The Lord would put a lying spirit in the mouth of Ahab’s prophets. Picture this scene in heaven.
“Then Micaiah said, ‘Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, with all the host of heaven standing beside Him to the right and to the left of Him. And the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab, so that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’
Then one said one thing, and another said another, until a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD saying, ‘I will entice him.’ ‘How?’ the LORD asked him. He replied, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’
Then the LORD said, ‘You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do it.’ So you see, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; the LORD has decreed disaster for you.” (1 Kings 22:19-23)
There is no need to name the religions and philosophies inhabited by lying spirits. They are sent by God to deceive those who “refuse to love the truth and be saved.”
