Focus!

Lots of distractions.

So many different voices telling you what to believe, with arguments, they say, “make it true.” They start with the words of Jesus, “You must be born again.” Because they are human they search for all the answers of how this could be. “How did it happen, what happens now and how? But, what if????” Salvation is not easily understood. And this is the reason why.

“Do not be amazed that I told you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:7-8) Jesus described salvation spiritually through the mysterious movements of the Holy Spirit. What is clear is that being born again is God’s choice! Trying to explain the reason for God’s choice is foolishness unless you know what He was thinking. It’s best to not presume anything, except His love. He does as He wishes.

Because of God’s Spirit we do believe, and confess that Jesus is Lord. We are the children of God who are on a purifying journey that leads to holiness.

“See what kind of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” (1 John 3 1-3)

I love the Scriptures that tell us how much we are loved. We are called His children who are being changed to become like Him. We have fixed our hope on God, and because we have we know there is work to do before we meet Jesus face to face. As His children we are learning to agree with God’s hatred of sin, are being forgiven when it’s needed and cleansed. We are being refined by the Spirit who gave us birth. “So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
