Simple truths to get us moving.
These truths have to be simple because they were “revealed to infants.” (Matthew 11:25) Born again, by the will of our heavenly Father, infants grow by believing what God has to say. Jesus came to reveal our Father. “All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” (Matthew 11:27) That is us, every child of God.
Jesus came to reveal the Spirit of His Father, so that we would know Him. Contemplate His deeds of compassion. Listen to His words of forgiveness, and witness His gentile demeanor. This is our heavenly Father whom Christ wants us to know. For some of us understanding comes slowly because of how things use to be. It takes awhile to understand that we are loved.
Time for gifts.
When we are born again we ask for God’s forgiveness wanting to be loved. In time we ask for the Holy Spirit. And even though we are born again we are still subject to doubt. We doubt that God would give us the same gift, in all its glory, that He gave those in the upper room. Do we still not understand the administration of God’s mystery that the apostle Paul revealed to the Ephesians?
“To me, the least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ, and to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things; so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in heavenly places.
Through us, His children, God is displaying the glory of His wisdom to other created beings in the heavenly realms. Now try to tell me God has not displayed His wisdom in dealing with you. At our worst we are the problem child requiring a strict hand. At our best we are slow to realize “the unfathomable riches of Christ.” But, we are encouraged by His Spirit to venture out into this gift of faith. Ask according to His will, it was revealed in His Son. Trust in our Fathers love for you. He has given you His Spirit, if you asked. Enjoy!
