Describing the devil’s children.
How would you describe the devil’s children in a message to the church? You would not want to be misunderstood, the church is full of fragile people. Prayer and meditation is required when called for such a task.
The apostle’s message in 1 John 3:1-10 is meant for the children of God. In it John clearly made a contrast between God’s children and the children of the devil. And it all hinged on the word “practice.” Repeating something until it becomes habitual. The distinction between these two children is that one knows God and the other does not. The result is that one practices righteousness and the other practices sin.
“No one that is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” (Vs. 9) Do you see what I meant about “fragile people?” How is it that we “cannot sin?” Because we are born of God and His seed abides in us. “His seed” is the word of God that has been written on our heart. Our Father’s word convicts us of sin until we stop. We cannot sin as His children and be at peace with our heart. So, we change what we practice.
But He knows the way I take; When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot has held fast to His path; I have kept His way and not turned aside.” (Job 23:10-11) Hang in there and keep the faith, God knows what He is doing. He is refining us.
