We are called to follow Him.
Looking down from Mount Tabor, believed to be the Mount of Transfiguration, I am reminded that Jesus revealed His glory. Consider His words. “He who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and show Myself to him.” (John 14:21) Wow! I have seen His works through His word, and witnessed the power of His Spirit to change my life, but I have not yet seen Him as His disciples did on the Mount of Transfiguration. Someday.
I know that if I keep His commandments I will abide in His love, just as Christ kept His Father’s commandments and abided in His love. (John 15:10) Any honest person will admit to themselves that keeping Christ commandments is impossible without sacrifice. Are we willing to give up our desires to receive God’s? It is difficult to give yourself completely over to the will of God. We have to contend with our selfishness and pride.
God has saved us through His Son. “For while we were helpless, (dead in sin) at the right time (Daniel 9:26) Christ died for the ungodly.” For one will hardly die for a righteous man (You know what God thinks of man’s righteousness.), for a good man some would die. But God demonstrated His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:6-8)
Jesus’ commandments are to love God and our neighbor. Love is “demonstrated” through sacrifice. It is giving up one thing for another. Trash for treasure! “My son, keep my words and treasure my commandments within you.” (Proverbs 7:1)
Articles will not be as frequent.
I have been encouraged to compile some of my writing into a devotional. God has His ways of convincing us of His will. My will was to continue posting daily at His Family Table for a selfish reason…… the joy that I have discovering the mysteries found in God’s word. Giving more of my time to this new endeavor will mean less blogging for awhile. If one of the past articles blessed you in some way recommend it to be transformed into a devotional. I haven’t done the picking yet. Truly, you are loved.
“If you love Me you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)
That is Mount Tabor behind the palm tree.
