Got Wisdom and Understanding?
“Who among you are wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness (humility, meekness) of wisdom. (James 3:13)
We know that “He has sent redemption to His people (Jesus); He has commanded His covenant forever (eternal life for His children); Holy and awesome is His name (Jesus, a name above all names). The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom (our starting place); A good understanding have all those who do His commandments (if you love Me). His praise endures forever.” (Psalm 111:9-10)
We know these things. “But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and self-interest exists, there is disorder and every evil thing.” (James 3:14-16)
Jealousy and selfishness are another kind of wisdom. Worldly and demonic. The fruit of this wisdom is readily seen in dysfunctional families and in societies. How different from the wisdom God would impart to His children.
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, them peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed of the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 3:17-18)
Lord, we have experienced the bitter fruit of Satanically inspired jealousy and selfishness in our own lives. We have been sorrowful and have caused sorrow living without Your wisdom. But now our lives are changing. Your Spirit is teaching us Your holy thoughts and ways. Thank you.
“Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord and He will exalt you.” (James 4:10)
