Repelling the Darkness

The Light of Christ.

“Who then is that faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them food at the proper time? Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.” (Matthew 24:45-46)

Vicki and I help support the work of the Grace Believers Society in Pakistan. These young Christian men and women are busy teaching youth and reaching into rural villages to share the love of Christ. Traveling throughout the Punjab Provence they are bringing God’s healing to downtrodden Christian communities. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ who are living in a land of both class and religious persecution.

Graduation Class

God blessed these grace filled believers with a Biblical education and hearts committed to feed His sheep. Watching a member of this graduating class lead the Grace Believers Society has been an amazing experience. Their acts are sacrificial and blessed by our Lord Jesus. To watch them is to recall the acts of the early church. They are being sent as the Light of Christ repelling the darkness that has oppressed Christian communities.

Founded two years ago G.B.S. has started two youth groups, opened a school called “Evergreen Academy”, holds monthly doctrinal seminars and planted a church in Sheikhupura, Pakistan. Now, this might appear to be the energetic works of young men and women until you have a clearer picture of what is occurring. I will try to give you one.

 Christian youth.

Teaching Youth 1

Lacking education and born into a class-system, the boys are most likely destined to be sanitary workers, if they find work at all. You might think the girls are better off as they are allowed to become nurses, but their mother and brothers and father will take all of their money.  God is bringing a reason to hope as they come to understand who they are in Christ. That begins with the word of God.

“But to as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were begotten not of blood nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13)  Glory and exaltation awaits the despised of this world. They are children of God. Can you think of anything more encouraging, in their circumstances, than understanding this truth? They are born of God, they are His children.

Education.

Academy Office

The poor are provided free education and taught to pass a government examination. This opens new doors for employment. Boys become hopeful, and the girls? Well, they would love to know the security of being cared for. This opportunity can change the dynamics of families. The darkness of cultural depression retreats where God’s Light of Hope shines.

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)

Seminars.

Pakistan is a predominantly Muslim culture (97+%) and without the knowledge of Biblical doctrines Christians lack a strong faith. The voices they hear deny that Jesus is the Son of God. They claim that Jesus was not crucified or resurrected, nor will He come again to judge the living and the dead. To understand what the Bible teaches about Jesus Christ is essential to faith that is challenged by the spirit of antichrist. (1 John 4:3)

“He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.” (Matthew 28:6) The voice of the Grace Believers Society is proclaiming the truth.

Planting a church.

Sheikhupura was one of many Christian villages in the remote parts of Pakistan without a shepherd. When God sent His servants they gathered in the open to hear His message. With a hunger for God’s word, the heat of day did not prevent them from gathering together. They have a shepherd now who trains their elders to care for the flock. A short while later God provided a small building to shelter His gathered sheep from the elements.

“In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.” (John 16:23-24) Their shepherd led them in prayer asking God who provided for their need.

Church inside 3

We have been watching a move of God accomplished through dedicated lives. Their vision is to reach more remote areas in Pakistan where illiterate villagers will be shown Christian films. We have been gifted to know these servants who demonstrate the sacrificial grace and love of God.  To witness the acts of the Spirit of God is to be inspired by and filled with compassion for those you have never met. To support this movement through prayer and gifts is to be laboring with God preparing souls for eternity. Vicki and I invite you to share in this amazing powerful work of the Spirit expressed in brotherly love. Wow! An invitation to be blessed.

Update

The generous response to Vicki’s GoFundMe account in Facebook has provided the funds needed to purchase a battery-powered projector. It will be used to reach people with the gospel in remote villages without electricity, teach lessons at the “Evergreen Acadamy & College” and in their Doctrinal Seminars as they travel throughout Pakistan.

G.B.S is also beginning another phase of ministry  called ‘Life Line Christian Counseling.” Pray for the team members who will be trained to bring comfort and hope to men and women in need. Praise God who is enabling His servants to bring the gospel of His kingdom into places of darkness.

To follow this move of the Spirit visit “Grace Believers Society” in Facebook. Disclosure: Sajid Azeem Paul, who leads this society, is more than our friend and brother in Christ. He is loved as a son.

Lord, we are praying for Your Light to shine brightly in the midst of this land. Repel the darkness with the glory of Your presence. Amen.
