Reading with eyes that see.
What’s in front of you is not just a history book telling how all this started. It has a lot to say about how things will end. Did you know that someday soon thousands upon thousands of Jews will be able to see. Their ears will be opened to hear the living word contained in what we Gentiles call the Old Testament.
Hard to see past preconceptions.
Will it be a sudden shock from heaven, or a small spark becoming a roaring fire? For centuries they have denied Him. They have seen the statues and were told Jesus was only for Gentiles. What is hard for man can be made simple by God. He created them and knows what it will take to get through to them, tribulation of a kind this world has not seen nor will ever be again.
“For the sons of Israel will remain many days without a king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar and without ephod or teraphim. Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek the LORD their God and David their King; and they will come trembling to the LORD and to His goodness in the last days.” (Hosea 3:4-5)
Hosea’s prophecy was directed mostly to the Northern Tribes of Israel called the house of Israel. The ones now referred to as the lost tribes. They had played the part of the adulteress and the Sovereign God determined a period of separation. “I will go away and return to My place Until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me. (Hosea 5:15)
Fast forward.
Jesus was rejected by the rulers and priests of the house of Judah. These were His parting words to them. “Behold your house is left to you desolate; For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord'”(Matthew 23:39; Luke 13:35) Good reason to be praying for the Jews to see. That is when Jesus will be seen again.
I pray for that day to come when God removes that spirit of sleep from those among Israel He has chosen to save. My hope is that Jesus will open Gentile eyes to see past their preconceptions implanted by the false doctrine called “replacement theology” or “supersessionism”. The Christian Church does not negate or appropriate the word and promises of God delivered to Israel. It is arrogance that interprets away God’s plan concerning the children of Israel. And no less evil than the teachings of the Pharisees whose traditions superseded the word of God.
The One whom they rejected became the Light to the Gentile world. God reconciled with those who would believe His Son. When Israel seek Him they will be accepted and the resurrection of the dead will follow. “For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? (Romans 11:15)
Father, Your words are clear to those whom You have given sight. I pray that Your time of separation from Your people Israel is over soon. I rejoice in Your word knowing that it will bring hope and comfort to Israel during their affliction. Many times and in different ways I have repeated Your will so that others are not deceived. You love the children of Israel for the sake of the fathers; Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (Romans 11:28-29) Because of Your Son, and in His name, I pray for those whom You love.
“Whoever is wise, let him understand these things. Whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, And the righteous will walk in them, But transgressors will stumble in them.” (Hosea 14:9)
