The Christmas Story pg.3

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as an only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
For a short while the One who spoke creation into being became flesh himself and lived among men. Do you think there might have been a dramatic contrast? God as their neighbor! The glory that these men saw was so unique that Jesus could only have come from the Father.
Grace was needed and freely given along with the truth. Reality! Something most like to avoid, it can be down right disturbing. But, hey it’s a Christmas story that I am telling. A baby and angels and stuff like that. Christmas trees and families gathered around the food. And presents. Yes, but in the midst of all these good things remember that there is a reason God did what He did.
Yes, Jesus is God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” (John 1:1-2) It was no small thing for Jesus to become a man. “…. He made himself nothing by taking the very form of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:7-8)
It is humbling to know that you’re loved that much.
