The time is approaching.
“So also we, while we were children, were held in bondage under the elements of this world. But when the fullness of time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under Law, so that He might redeem those who are under Law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” (Galatians 4:3-5)
Soon the fullness of time will come and we will celebrate Christmas, commemorating an event that made our adoption possible. Christ was sent to do what we could not do, free ourselves from the power of sin and death. He perfectly satisfied God’s Holy Law and is ready to redeem those who would receive adoption as God’s children.
Children who will be freed from “bondage under the elements of this world.” Children who discover that they are no longer subject to the flesh and its cravings. Our Father’s children are now learning to be subject to Christ. A King was born on that Christmas day to destroy the power of both sin and death.
There is a time for everything under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 3) The time will come when even the elements of this world will be destroyed as they melt in burning heat. (2 Peter 3:10-12) But first, the time approaches when our Father sends His Son again to gather those who belong to Him. Remember the song with this verse? “Soon, and very soon, we are going to see the King.” Merry Christmas.
