Need

What’s a Christian to do?

“For you will always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me. (Mark 14:7)

Jesus was rebuking His disciples who had scolded a woman for pouring fragrant and expensive perfume on His head. “She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial.” (Mark 14:8) Knowing what we now know, I believe every Christian would do what that woman did if they could. Well we can’t, but He left us with the poor.

What is the best a Christian can do?

That’s easy. Help those who are “anointed to preach the gospel to the poor.” (Luke 4:18) I had a young Pakistani seminary student, soon to graduate, committed to preaching the gospel to the poor, text me this morning. He wrote of his experiences and the great needs of the poor to hear the gospel message. His words reminded me of a resumé given for a job interview. Another perfect candidate whom I cannot sponsor to labor in God’s fields. There are many believers like him and if “you wish you can do good to them.”

I referred him to Grace Believers Society hoping that he would be encouraged in some way. I will pray for him, and continue to support the laborers in the field through G.B.S. There is a lot of need. I have prayed to the Lord of the harvest, and He is raising up laborers. Perhaps He is touching your heart as well. To learn more click G.B.S. FEBRUARY REPORT
