Christ’s Possession

Truth is true, acknowledged or not.

“….looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of the great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.” (Titus 2:13-14)

Jesus is coming back to claim His own possession. They belong to Him having been purchased with His blood. A people redeemed from all lawlessness to be His purified possession. Does that sound like us? Zealous for good deeds? This relationship was tried  before with a people redeemed from Pharaoh’s slavery.

“You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself. Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” (Exodus 19:4-6)

So ….. here we are thousands of years later and Jesus is redeeming a people from Satan’s slavery to be His possession. Those who are serving Him with “good deeds” know that they can take no credit. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)  We get to enjoy and praise Him for the good works we were created to do.

Jesus, forgive us for walking in our own ways. Help us to realize that we are Your possession and not our own. Thank You for showing us that life is most satisfying when we are doing good deeds, things that You give us to do.
