The secret is being fully clothed.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility and patience. (Colossians 3:12)
Without clothing ourselves we are pretty well sunk, weighted down with a heart of stone. Unable to rise to a higher place, we are grounded by the gravity of our selfishness, pride and impatience. Thank God, He provided clothes for our nakedness when giving us a heart of flesh.
We are capable of caring about the welfare of others. Compassion and kindness are holy desires God is wanting our hearts to express. This is the proof of being born-again. We were never this way before! Now freed from the weight of self we rise to do God’s bidding, and hear His voice. “Be patient!” Remember that He is in charge.
I am sure that when the time comes for us to do His bidding, we will know what He is asking us to do. And that usually involves going out into the public, and it is best to be FULLY CLOTHED in “compassion, kindness, humility and patients.” The way we use to be is the way the world still is. Resist the pull of this world’s gravity. Remember that “as God’s chosen people” we are tried and tested by the crowd that would pull us down.
Human, and like Moses, we are chosen to serve our Lord. For Moses it wasn’t a picnic. He spent forty years with a bunch of grumblers. Remember when the crowd turned on him because there was no water to drink? “So Moses cried out to the LORD saying, ‘What shall I do with this people? A little more and they will stone me.” (Exodus 17:4) In other words, “I don’t know what to do, I need your help!” And water came from a rock. A good thing to remember when we are asked to do His bidding. He is there to help.
Stay clothed and be useful. You were “chosen” to be “holy and dearly loved.” Me too!
