God revealing.
“And His mother and brothers came to Him, and they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd. And it was reported to Him, ‘Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wishing to see You.’ But He answered and said to them, ‘My mother and brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.'” (Luke 8: 19-21)
A recent situation brought on a revelation concerning Jesus and family. I came to understand some of Christ’s heart, and strong feelings of my own. Family, God’s Family, raised according to His seed, is the family Jesus calls His own. Hear and do! I met a young man in Pakistan who hears and does, and whom Jesus is pleased to call His “brother.” Through him, my wife Vicki and I have been exposed to a move of God’s Spirit.
Pakistan is a great field of harvest. This part of the world has been tilled in persecution. Soil, broken and humbled, is prepared to receive the seed which declares, “You are given the right to become servants of the King, and children of God.” Those who are hearing God’s word are receiving His Spirit and bearing the fruit that comes from obedience.
Their love is irresistible. It is demonstrated through sacrifice, a rarity nowadays. Unfortunately there are but few laborers in this field. Those who are here would be greatly helped spreading the gospel if Christians, who live in various states of abundance, felt the compassion of Christ. Miracles happen through giving that seeks God’s glory.
“Seeing the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and harassed like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few, Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.'” (Matthew 9:36-38)
My epiphany? I now understand why I am so committed to Christians in Pakistan. They are family who “hear the word of God and do it.”.
I have been preparing soil of a different kind while praying for my family in Pakistan. Grace Believers Society asks you to also pray to the Lord of the harvest. Perhaps in doing so the Father will touch your heart to help in some way.
