The problem is the lack of laborers.
The solution is the telling of truth, so here goes. “And He was saying to them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few, therefore beseech the Lord of the Harvest to send out workers in to His harvest.” (Luke 10:2; Matthew 9:38)
Does that mean some of His harvest will be lost if we don’t care? “Beseech,” the urgent prayer of a saint who passionately cares about what they are asking. Has the sovereign God of creation given that much responsibility to His children? Will sufficient numbers of laborers be sent into His harvest ONLY if we pray? Or is it just a matter of making the job easier for the few that are working? I will go with the former. Christ was commanding us to participate, in a very specific way, in the saving of souls.
Truth needs to spread and that requires voices. Beseech the Lord of the Harvest that He would raise up men and women who will dedicate their lives to Him; lives that are sacrificial and content with God’s provision. Ask the Lord to make them bold, they will need to be. Pray that they are filled with wisdom, they will be confronting ignorance. Remember that the effective prayer of the righteous can accomplish much. (James 5:16)
Every Christian can participate in God’s harvest. All that is required is that we care enough to pray. Make it personal, ask God to place a nation or peoples on your heart. Make a difference in this world. Jesus told us we can.
