Benefits

Father’s Day breakfast with Vicki. I am blessed.

I’m in it for the benefits.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; (Psalm 103:1-2)

Might as well confess. I’m in it for the benefits. I’m forgiven and have been healed from all of my diseases. I was redeemed from destruction, and I am now blessed by His lovingkindness and tender mercies. (Psalm 103:3-4) My diseases were spiritual like Mary Magdalene who had seven demons.

It is not a small thing for me to be forgiven.  “You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume. For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” Then He said to her, “Your sins have been forgiven.” (Mark 16:9; Luke 8:2) The Lord has forgiven me for much and with His forgiveness comes His cleansing. (1 John 1:9)

Talk about benefits! I was pulled back from destruction. Life instead of death. Instead of the wages I deserved, I was loved.  Loved by the Father who gave His Son so that this could be. King David understood and wanted others to know. That is what we have in common. So “Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of his benefits;”

Go for the gold. Find value in those things that can not be purchased but are there to be received. Forgiveness, cleansing, redemption, loving kindness and tender mercies are ours when we believe. “Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name.”
