“They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
And saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.” (Psalm 34:5-7)
They looked to Him and cried for help. The Lord heard and became their savior. We look to Him to be delivered from death. Big trouble! He hears the humble, those who cry for His help. So why aren’t more Christians helped out of their troubles? They are looking all over the place!
We have this habit of not completely trusting in God to provide what we need. Bad habit! We were taught, over time, to do for ourselves, and that doesn’t work with God. I have had students and teachers, pastors and priests on my mind for a while now. They are all Pakistanis, and they sure have their troubles! I pray that they do not look to man for their help. Only God. He will provide for their needs, and fulfill their vision, if they place all of their trust in Him.
Easy for me to say, harder to remember to do. But what if every servant of God only looked to Him? I dare say, there would be fire. I know there would be, I just want this fire to spread. We are secure and will be saved out of all of our troubles when we “look to Him.”
We gave the squirrel a few moments of grace and set out a plate. Seeds/scraps that fell from the bird’s table to the floor were gathered up so as not to be wasted. Like the Syrophoenician woman (Matthew 15:26-28; Mark 7:27-29) the squirrel experienced grace.
Father, there is so much need among the poor in Pakistan, the need is to know You. To know to whom they belong. May Your elders be men and women of faith, examples who show Your word is true. Create hearts in those whom You have set an abundant table, to be hearts that will meet needs without being asked. I’m looking to You, and praying in Your Son’s name, Jesus.
Trust seems to be the great test whether you’re rich or poor.
