We are being watched.
“so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 3:10)
Reading a verse like this really makes you wonder what Paul is writing about. God is revealing His wisdom through us (the church) to authorities in the heavens. How is God doing this? Who are these authorities? What will they see in us?
“to be specific, that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel, (Ephesians 3:6)
He is displaying His wisdom and power through the gospel of His Son, while fulfilling the promise He made to Abraham. “And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3)
Humans are so earth bound, we rarely think about heavenly things, nor the fact that the church is on display to “authorities in the heavenly places.” Surely our transition from a life in the flesh, to one in the spirit, has happened only because of our Father’s “manifold wisdom.”
Personally, I know that God has displayed His all-sufficient mercy and wisdom in my life. I am sure these authorities were mystified as they watched and wondered how His wisdom would manifest itself with me. They probably wondered about you too.
After all that God has done for us there is an awesome sense of responsibility to live and do His will. We are the fruit of our Father’s wisdom displayed for all to see. Called to be family, born of His Spirit and loved. Yes, I feel a grave sense of responsibility to walk in His Spirit, showing all who would see, the wisdom of God that makes one new man through Christ.
