Twin Subjects: The Gospel and Faith #8

Can’t fake faith.

“Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.”
(John 14:23 NASB)

Faith believes the words that came from Christ’s mouth. Faith believes the witnesses.
“What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life—  and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us—   what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. (1 John 1:1-4)

Faith believes loving Him is why we do what we do. Faith is amazed that Jesus and His Father are that close. There are things we don’t understand, but when we believe in God, as revealed in His Son, our understanding grows. Faith believes God is and that He means every word. “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word.”  Makes one think, and come to realize what it takes to keep His word. Love! Love for the Son of God.

There is no fooling Jesus in this matter, nor are we left without understanding. I can’t count the times I have cried out because I have not kept His word. Sorrow meets grace, and some how my love grows.  This is what happens when you believe. God’s Spirit comes to love and abide.
