Twin Subjects: The Gospel and Faith #10

R2B

“Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.” (Titus 2:2 NASB)

Faith experiences the living word. “Are to be.” Our Father, through “Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ,….” (Titus 1:1) told us how older men R2B. For older men, who see life in His words, they become a check-list showing you how you’re doing. With faith you see how God deserves to have His children be. Stronger than the spoken word is the one that reaches your heart. That is how R2B comes to be when there is faith.

God speaks to you! Somehow we were called by the Father to go to His Son. We did. And we listened to His words. Words recorded, by those who first heard, spoke to our need. Better than manna that fed the body is His Spirit that feeds our soul. “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” (John 6:63)

“Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.’” (Mark 1:14-16 NASB)

Jesus came with God’s gospel and said it was time. “Repent and believe in the gospel.” Jesus tells us how our Father wants us to behave, and to believe what He has to say. All that Jesus said and did is the good news of God’s kingdom, and “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
