God’s gospel is preached to both the living and the dead. Hearing leads to life in the spirit. Those who reject the message will be held accountable to “Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”
“having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries. In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you; but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God. (1 Peter 4:3-6)
We all exist in a state of separation from God until we are born again. For all intents and purposes this state is being “DEAD.” Through the preaching of the gospel the dead and the living hear the will of their Creator. Those who live received His seed (believed His living word) were born again. They now “live in the spirit according to the will of God.” Those who reject God’s gospel remain in death.
Jesus died for us so that we might live. Live to be His witnesses to those who have yet to hear. How can we be silent?
