“Let love of the brethren continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:1-2)
Well, we are not angels, but we were welcomed and honored, according to Pakistani tradition, in six different Christian colonies. I did not cry this year humbled by their greetings. Instead, I was humbled knowing God was blessing us through the humblest of His children.
Called conventions they are really celebrations of the body of Christ. Something different from the ordinary, maybe even for the first time, foreigners are coming to worship with them. Banners were hung announcing our coming.
Rose petals were thrown, pastors, elders and leaders honored their guests with garlands and gifts of shawls. Little girls danced to entertain us and choirs sang while musicians played. I wondered how many hours they spent preparing for our visit.
These photos are just a sample of the love shown to strangers. We came to preach the gospel message of restoration to those loved by our Father. Afterwards, those who sometimes ate only one meal a day prepared a meal to share with us before we said our goodbyes.
Have you entertained any strangers lately?
