Family

“Brethren, sons of Abraham’s family, and those among you who fear God, to us the message of this salvation has been sent.” (Acts 13:26NASB) That statement applies to all of us who are Abraham’s children of faith. We who believe God are like our Father Abraham. God has spoken to us and we have believed. We are family, every single one of us who calls upon the name of the Lord.

I don’t know what kind of family you have experienced, but whatever it was it was not holy, perfect in love. Our family of faith is being perfected in love, and as we are we experience sacrifice. It is unavoidable when you surrender to God’s will. He truly loves His children. He hears the cries of His children in bondage and calls to their brethren to set them free.

Chained to the law and vain religious practices the illiterate are held captive. Bound by traditions and customs, man’s helpmate’s hands are tied. The wise of this world call themselves to shepherd God’s flock. These professional ministers are no different than the scribes and Pharisees of the past. Those who are truly called by God are crying out to our Father for help.

So much can be done if we dare to love. We can hear our family crying out to God if we care. If we don’t it is easy to be deaf to their prayer. Just think, we will meet them someday when Christ’s promise is kept. Will they know of our love?

There are many places where Christians suffer in persecution, discrimination, educational deprivation and economic poverty. Family! Pick one, get involved, sacrifice a little or a lot, be an answer to someone’s prayer and be perfected in love.
