Beauty

I have a friend of some celebrity as a photographer. He calls himself a “copyboy for the Lord.” Jesus made the beauty of the Olympic Peninsula. Its mountains, meadows and coast lines are some of the most beautiful in the world. My friend copies God’s landscapes for others to see, or at least he did for forty years. He is now blind. Before you think “How sad” let me tell you what he now sees. A beauty of a different type, God’s human creation.

My brother’s world now overflows in the love of Christ. Surrounded by people instead of trees, the Holy Spirit’s work in humans is the beauty he sees.  “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.” (John 15:5,8 NASB)

One does not have to be blind to see this beauty. My friend just focused on something else for such a long time. This church elder, liked and well known, was invaded with love and cookies, meals and deserts and folks came to chat. There is nothing more beautiful than witnessing the fruit that glorifies our Father.

Want to be beautiful? Abide in Christ, He will abide in you. This is the beauty I see in my friend.
