A New Heaven and Earth
Now that is what I call amazing gifts. A new creation, and only those who followed Christ will be there. There will be all kinds of folks. From the prophets and saints of long ago, to those of us today who believe in His name. We will be there because we have believed God, and because we have believed Him we follow as best we can.
It is a continual process of struggle, and it is normal for those who are experiencing a new birth. A maternity room is a good visual. Think about it. God the Father is creating a new man, one who will dwell upon His new earth. He causes this new birth, and to those who are born again, He gives the right to become His child. Consider these verses.
“…..His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:11-13NASB) This “right” is a gift of grace, pure and undefiled. A gift intended to be used in “becoming children of God.” God gave us new birth, He is our Father, and because of Jesus that relationship will never change. So, what kind of child of God do we want to become? Those who practice righteousness.
“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:10-13NASB)
