If it’s on the inside you’ll see it on the outside.
“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
(John 4:24 NASB)
The truth is most people don’t want to be confronted by the truth. Men have been threatened and killed for speaking the truth. I’m thinking of what happened to Stephen when he spoke the truth to some Jews. “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the quick, and they began gnashing their teeth at him.” (Acts 7:54 NASB) The next verse says Stephen was “Full of the Holy Spirit.” If truth is on the inside you will see it on the outside.
These Jews hated the truth and killed the messenger. In some countries truth is against the law and speaking it is punishable by death. Nothing new, from the beginning Christians have been warned NOT to speak the truth. “But so that it will not spread any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no longer to any man in this name.” (Acts 4:17 NASB) Their intention was to frighten believers into silence. Christians talk a lot amongst themselves, but Satan uses fear to keep the truth from spreading.
Men are not the only ones in this warning business. God gives His warnings too. “By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.” (Hebrews 11:7 NASB)
God has not called us to build an ark. Jesus is the Ark. We have been called to worship Him in spirit and truth. Stephen did.
