Would you be my Valentine?

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35 NASB)

Notice that Jesus wasn’t giving a suggestion? He has shown us what love looks like and describes the results of being obedient. This blessed man is married to a disciple of Christ. Do you know how I know that she is a disciple? By loving me as Jesus would. I’m a blessed man.

“I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are.” (John 17:11 NASB)

Before leaving Jesus asked His Father to keep us, and He surely saves these two who believe in Him. Saved through the shock of loss, sustained in grief then livened by hope, two lonely people were brought together to fulfill the Son of God’s request, “that they may be one even as We are.”

That is becoming more and more the reality of our lives. Not just with each other, but with our brothers and sisters in Christ. God wasn’t just bringing Vicki and I together only for us to be blessed. Jesus has another reason, “that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. (John 17:21 NASB)

We are popping up all over this world. Children who are obedient to Christ’s new command understand that our Father really does not want any to perish. He wants everyone to see so that they may believe. Let us truly love one another.  It is a life of glory to love and to be loved as Jesus loves. Vicki has made me a very happy man and my job is to make sure I love her more.

If you can’t buy her dinner go for a walk, or just sit and talk. Happy Valentines Day.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; (John 17:22 NASB)  If anyone is still on the fence choose God’s love. It’s amazing. He gave me Vicki!
