Requests #3

Why the evil messenger?

We are all in the flesh and subject to thorns sent by God’s enemy. God allowed some personal evil to bother the apostle Paul, and his prayers for relief were denied.

“Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself!” (Vs. 7)

Many are suffering from evil and like the apostle they will be sustained by God’s grace.

“Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. And He has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’    Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” (Vs. 8-9)

Father, You allow what is necessary to train your Children in righteousness. Whenever it is needed remind us of the sufficiency of Your grace. Then, by faith, we will experience the power of Christ who dwells in us. This we ask in the name of Jesus, Your Son.

“Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10 NASB)
