Addressing God as Father
To be able to address God as Father is only because Christ shed His blood. God’s sacrifice of love must be received by faith. Jesus, God’s sacrifice, is God Himself being received or rejected. No small matter either way. Truly a matter of life or death. The good news is because of Jesus we can call God, Father, and pray to Him as Jesus would. That is necessary if we are going to pray in His name.
How amazing is God’s grace that He would call us His sons and daughters. He knows us, He is our Father. That alone should make us want to please Him!
“because it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’
If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.” (1 Peter 1:16-19 NASB)
