Priesthood

When Jesus is our Priest

He intercedes for us, and through Him we can draw near to God, and be saved forever. That is as secure as secure can be! Who or what else can promise you peace of mind that lasts forever? You know you need a priest, your credentials are not the best, and God is holy. In fact, if you’re anything like me, you are relived to know  Jesus is your Priest.

“The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” (Hebrews 7:23-25 NASB)

Will we always need an Intercessor? Surly His blood shed once secured the children forever. His Father is our Father too, yet Jesus “holds His priesthood permanently.” There must be spiritual reasons. Perhaps we have need as we continue growing in grace throughout eternity.  Do you think we instantly have a complete change of mind and heart when we die in Christ? Or should that processes be happening now.

“Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.” (1 John 3:2 NASB)

When He appears we will be like Him. At the transfiguration three disciples saw Him “just as He is.” “We will be like Him.” Amazing grace!
