Favorites

We all have our favorites.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to know that God has His favorites, those who please Him. That’s how we choose our favorite. In some way they please us. God, through the writer of the Book of Hebrews, tells us what it takes to please Him. In fact, unless you have what it takes you can’t please Him.  There are two requirements. Faith that He is, and that seeking Him is beneficial.

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”
(Hebrews 11:6 NASB)

There are those who deny that He is, they are called liars. And there are those who have a wrong opinion of God. I will not have debates with liars, but maybe a few words can change someone’s perspective. We do not build trust in God’s character when we seek things, positions and honors. As believers in Him we are not immune to self-seeking. When we do, any gain is temporary.

“More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” (Philippians 3:8-11 NASB)
