Not many followers of Jesus.
There are far more deceived than I ever imagined. Maybe I just never thought about the number of people who believe lies. It’s scary how many truly BELIEVE LIES. They are believers in and defenders of lies, having been deceived by a lying spirit sent by God. Like King Ahab, they heard God’s warnings over and over and refused to repent.
“Micaiah said, ‘Therefore, hear the word of the Lord. I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by Him on His right and on His left. The Lord said, ‘Who will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said this while another said that. Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord and said, ‘I will entice him.’ The Lord said to him, ‘How?’ And he said, ‘I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ Then He said, ‘You are to entice him and also prevail. Go and do so.’ Now therefore, behold, the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and the Lord has proclaimed disaster against you.'” (1 Kings 22:19-23 NASB)
God will use evil spirits as instruments of divine judgement. “But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,” (1 Timothy 4:1-2 NASB)
Does God send deceiving spirits to cause men to fall away? No, they, themselves, rejected the truth. It is easy to see who they are, they are defenders and spreaders of lies. Shapers of thoughts that think only of self and the pleasures of life. Heavens! They would question God’s right to rule.
“All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing,
But He does according to His will in the host of heaven
And among the inhabitants of earth;
And no one can ward off His hand
Or say to Him, ‘What have You done?'” (Daniel 4:35 NASB)
Having exalted their morality above the perfect and holy word of God, their loud voices set the standards and write the laws for “right and wrong.” It’s sickening! I am so disappointed in people when seeing so many slipping into the abyss, as they write their own rules, and believe the lies that support them.
“Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.”
“For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 NASB)
Pray that more will respond to God’s warnings with faith and obedience. To reject His counsel is to be rejected by Him!
