God’s Appointments

Reason for everything

We await this most momentous occasion in all of creation, the adoption of the children of God, the redemption of their bodies.
“And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.” Romans 8:23

The First Fruits of the Spirit

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.” (Acts 2:1 NASB) On the appointed feast day God gave Christ’s redeemed His Holy Spirit.  Those in the upper room became the first fruits who now wait for the redemption of their bodies.

There remains three appointed feasts to be fulfilled. (Trumpets, Day of Atonement and Booths) The first four occurred consecutively. (Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits and Weeks or Pentecost) Trumpets commemorate God’s appearance at Mount Saini. A wonderful day for Him to speak to Israel again. How amazing will it be when God’s Israel truly repents on that day of atonement. My personal favorite is Booths, Feast of Ingathering or Sukkot. This was a time of celebration.

“You shall celebrate the Feast of Weeks, that is, the first fruits of the wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the turn of the year.” (Exodus 34:22 NASB) To me, this “tern of the year” (Yom) is the end of this age and the beginning of Christ’s thousand year reign. The feasts of God are like no others. Happy Pentecost my brothers and sisters.
