Following Jesus
“If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.” (John 12:26 NASB)
Service for Jesus is with Jesus. He is there with us when we are following Him. If we are not following we are serving ourselves. Then there is the danger of pursuing our own honor, and not God’s. It is best to have God honor us.
We cannot serve Jesus unless we are following Him. The things He asks us to do are everyday things most of the time. Things to be done thoughtfully and even sacrificially when He points out a need. What is done is done to please Him, yet somehow we are the ones filled with joy.
There are many ways to go our own way, but only one way to receive glory, honor and immortality. Jesus is the way. Pay attention and follow Him. Sadly, most will not.
“God, who will render to each person according to his deeds: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.” (Romans 2 6-8 NASB)
God honors those who serve His Son.
