Wealth and Riches in the Psalms

Psalm 112:1

The psalmist explains what some of God’s blessings are and who gets them. Not everybody gets them. It’s a short psalm, and I know every word is true.

Enough about me! This psalm explains who God is seeking so that He might give these blessings. Remember that “spirit and truth” requirement? I’ll give you a hint. Worship.

“Hallelujah!  Bless the Lord!
How blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who greatly delights in His commandments.”

That’s truth to your spirit. God blesses those who fear Him, and discover the joy of obedience.  Now do not get panicky over that “fear” word. It only means, “with all due respect given to the One who decides ————————–.”  (you fill in the blank)  All He has to do is speak, and it is done. POOF!

I rightly understand my position in this Creator/creation relationship. Praise God!

Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.” (Ezekiel 36:26-26 NASB)

About that “greatly delights in His commandments” quality. That happens when the love of mercy and righteousness enter the heart. Good things happen when we are obedient.

Back to being blessed. Only 9 more verses if your interested. As always with God, His word is meant to be taken to heart.  This is verse 3.

Wealth and riches are in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.”
