More Temple Talk

The purpose of the Holy Spirit’s temple is for the human spirit to glorify God.

Do you remember what Jesus said? “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.” (John 4:23 NASB) So, God does the seeking. He goes looking for souls who will worship Him is spirit and truth. He chooses us, we do not choose Him.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that salvation not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10 NASB)

God finds those He is seeking. They are called lost sheep who respond to the voice of the Shepherd, who tells them of His Father’s kingdom. These sheep, by believing Him, become His workmanship, as the Holy Spirit prepares them to glorify God through their good works. There is no bragging. Like Abraham, our spirit responded to truth when we heard it. Our Good deeds are the manifestation of Christ’s work in us. Our good works are the means of glorifying God in our body.

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NASB)

The Holy Spirit strengthen our faith by teaching us God’s word. We are given purpose along with a proper understanding of “good works.” If you are saved you are the Holy Spirit’s temple, and He will display God’s work in you through good works.
