WHY the SABBATH?

ENLIGHTENED AND RESPONSIBLE

“So You made known to them Your holy sabbath, And laid down for them commandments, statutes and law, Through Your servant Moses.” (Nehemiah 9:14 NASB)

Millennium Jews & Gentiles

“Also the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord,
To minister to Him, and to love the name of the Lord,
To be His servants, every one who keeps from profaning the sabbath
And holds fast My covenant;
Even those I will bring to My holy mountain
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar;
For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”
The Lord God, who gathers the dispersed of Israel, declares,
“Yet others I will gather to them, to those already gathered.”
(Isaiah 56:6-8 NASB)

God decides the day!

“And it shall be from new moon to new moon And from sabbath to sabbath, All mankind will come to bow down before Me,” says the Lord.” (Isaiah 66:23 NASB)

Why the Sabbath?

“Also I gave them My sabbaths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them.” (Ezekiel 20:12 NASB)

Sanctified to fulfill the Law.

“Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.” (Romans 13:8 NASB) “Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Romans 13:10 NASB) “For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:14 NASB) Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2 NASB) “If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.” (James 2:8 NASB)

Walk according to the Spirit

“For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” (Romans 8:3-5 NASB)
