“Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as strangers, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.” (1 Peter 1:1-2 NASB)
We are strangers scattered throughout the world. God chose us. He knew we would be the ones to be sanctified by the Holy Spirit’s work. Made holy! We would be cleansed by the sprinkling of His blood. Can you imagine the same blood that was on the cross on you? That’s the blood Peter is talking about.
There is a song called “There is Power in the Blood.” The blood is God’s life in you. He has done this great thing so that we would obey His Son. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.” (LEVITICUS 17:11 NASB)
That same blood empowers us to overcome whatever may come. I’m not a prophet, but I believe the prophets. Truth is truth that gets clearer over time, and God has graciously given me lots of time. I write to glorify God by amplifying His word for the sake of His children, my brothers and sisters in Christ who are scattered in many nations. If something that I say is used by God to turn on a light switch, then I’m blessed.
The next time you see a cross remember what you have in common. The blood. That is how we overcome this world. God’s life and our testimony. “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.” (Revelation 12:11 NASB)
