Our life becomes easier and easier the more we understand God’s word. Some things will always be mysteries, but God wants us to be certain of the essentials. Salvation is very essential! God’s grace makes eternal life possible, if His grace is not refused. Salvation is a gift made possible, because God’ Son, Jesus, was sacrificed.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
There is nothing we can do to secure our place in forever, except believe that God’s Son is our Savior.
“Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.” (Romans 3:27-28 NASB)
Our salvation can never be secured if we think it now depends on us. Thank God it does not. And about that “Law” that revealed reason for our guilt, it has now become our delight. That is the work of the Spirit, salvation in Christ. Through faith in God’s word we are being created anew, and our life becomes easier the more we understand how much we are loved.
“Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.” (Romans 3:31 NASB)
