“Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” And all the people replied, “That is a good idea.” (1 Kings 18:24 NASB)
How are you holding up when challenged in this time of rebellion? Elijah was confident in God, and challenged God’s enemies who had led the people of Israel astray. In order for the people to clearly see proof of God, he called down fire from heaven.
The rebellion is not fought the same way today, and there is no longer need to challenge a defeated foe. Christ’s body has been handed the high ground, they are the fire to be seen. Hearts purified by the fire of God’s Spirit are the witness to the world. God has surely blessed us. Amen
