Touching the Hem

“And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For this is contained in Scripture: ‘Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone, And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed.'” (put to shame) (1 Peter 2:4-6 NASB)

Have you touched the hem of His garment? To believe in Him is to come to Him and be healed of the ravages of sin. A condition we did not see until we came into His light. In time we realized that pride, self and foolishness reigned in us more than we could ever imagine.

The Savior saving us becomes clearer as we “are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood.” Being Christ’s workmanship, we experience change through the work of a priest who is praying for us. “The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” (Psalm 110:4 NASB) We who believe belong to Jesus, and are a chosen people.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” (1 Peter 2:9 NASB)

“She was saying to herself, ‘If I only touch His cloak, I will get well.'” (Matthew 9:21 NASB) She reached out in faith. The one who believes in Jesus will not be disappointed. ‘
