Can you relate?
“Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
Yes, our God is compassionate.
The Lord watches over the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me.
Return to your rest, my soul,
For the Lord has dealt generously with you.
For You have rescued my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from stumbling.
I shall walk before the Lord
In the land of the living.
I believed when I said,
“I am greatly afflicted.”
I said in my alarm,
“All people are liars.” (Psalm 116:5-11 NASB)
There’s no greater affliction than sin, it leads to death. First Adam and Eve, then all of their children’s children born separated from God with an expiration date. God calls by speaking to our need. That’s grace! He calls many to repentance. “For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14 NASB)
Don’t let people lie to you when the topic is repentance. It’s more than just the acknowledgement of being called. Turning to God is to turn away from sin. Repentance is faith that Jesus has provided a way. It’s called confession to Him, the faithful and righteous One. (1 John 1:9) Not to the priest or the imam, only Jesus can forgive and cleanse. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6 NASB)
“The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'”
