The Manger

When most could not read, Bible stories were remembered and passed around by word of mouth. The folk story of the birth of Jesus changed a little bit from the original. Tradition gives us the manger scene with the three wise men. This group of educated men (astronomer/astrologer/natural sciences) first stopped in Jerusalem asking for directions.

“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” (Matthew 2:1-2 NASB)

God gave a sign that the wise men could read. He now speaks to hearts through His living word. Be like the wise men; ask for directions, and just like them you will discover the way. The way to God is found in the Bible. So many reasons to celebrate Christ’s birth and to worship Him.
