Unbelievable when considering human’s love of freedom coupled with a desire to be in control. Control of their life and when possible, over the lives of others. School children and nations making rules for each other that lead to conflict. The biggest destroyers of freedom are not secular governments, but rather self-made religion. They attempt to attach themselves to Christianity and rob the believer of their freedom in Jesus.
“If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” (Which all refer to things destined to perish with use)—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of man? These are matters which do have the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and humility and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.” (Colossians 2:20-23 NASB)
To have died with Christ is to live in Him, free to worship our Father in truth and in spirit as Jesus would. He would never worship a tree nor do God’s children. It is simply a decoration expressing a joyful occasion commemorating the birth of our savior. Ours as outside strung with popcorn, candy canes and lights to shine at night. The first three nights it was knocked over by squirrels who discovered what wires can shock, pulling strings ends in a crash and candy canes are not all that tasty. Once thy figured that out they now leave our decoration alone.
